KerbNab only works if it's safe, honest and friendly. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. Breaking them can get your content removed or your account suspended.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report any post, message or user, and block anyone, from inside the app. We aim to review reports and act within 24 hours.
The spirit of KerbNab
- Share genuine free kerbside hard-rubbish finds so they get reused instead of dumped.
- Put on garage sales, clear-outs and free food events for your neighbours.
- Be accurate about what an item is and its condition.
- Be respectful, helpful and patient with your neighbours.
Don't post or share
- Illegal items, or anything you're not legally allowed to give away.
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition or realistic replicas.
- Hazardous or recalled goods — asbestos, chemicals, gas bottles, damaged batteries, or recalled products.
- Food as a kerbside post — see Food below.
- Anything encouraging illegal dumping of rubbish on public land or private property.
- Stolen goods or items not genuinely available to be taken.
- Explicit, violent, hateful or shocking content, or content that sexualises or endangers anyone.
- Spam, scams or misleading listings.
- Other people's personal information without their consent.
Don't behave like this
- Harassment, bullying, threats or hate speech.
- Scamming or deceiving other users.
- Impersonating someone else.
- Encouraging others to break these guidelines or the law.
Food
Food isn't like furniture: food that's been sitting out can make someone sick. So it has its own rules.
- Only through a free food event. Don't post food or drink as a kerbside find.
- Free only. Selling food, even from a stall, usually needs council registration.
- Allowed: fruit, vegetables and herbs you've grown, and sealed packaged food within its use-by date.
- Not allowed: home-cooked or prepared food, meat, seafood, dairy, eggs, anything that needs refrigeration, opened packets, anything past its use-by date, baby formula and alcohol.
- Hosts are responsible for the food being safe to eat. A box of produce at the gate is fine, but don't leave food out unattended for long, especially in the heat.
- Picking food up? Check dates, packaging and condition yourself, and ask the host about allergens. If in doubt, leave it, and report anything unsafe.
Stay safe
- Items are second-hand and uninspected — check them yourself for safety.
- Follow your local council's rules about hard rubbish and scavenging.
- Use good judgement when meeting people or entering any property.
Reporting and blocking
- Report a post, message or user — choose a reason and add any detail. Reports go straight to our moderation queue.
- Block anyone you don't want to interact with — they can't message you and you won't see their posts or messages.
